Bethesda Reveals Xbox One X Game Enhancements

Bethesda Reveals Xbox One X Game Enhancements

For its followers, Bethesda stated, “We’ve got an early look at what Xbox One X players can expect in upcoming updates, and we will continue to provide details of enhancements coming to both Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro.” This early look reveals planned Xbox One X enhancements for titles such as Fallout 4, Skyrim: Special Edition, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, Dishonored 2 and Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, The Evil Within 2, and The Elder Scrolls Online.

For Fallout 4, enhancements include 4K support, enhanced draw distances for trees, grass, objects, NPCs, and God Ray effects. Bethesda’s game had some positive visual qualities on console, but those versions paled in comparison to the PC release. Now there should be some parity between the two.

Considering it has already been upgraded there isn’t much more Bethesda can do for Skyrim: Special Edition, but the current-gen remaster will support 4K resolution. With the Xbox One X update, the game will presumably run just as good as it does on a PC, albeit without the expansive mod support.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus will also support 4K resolution whereas enhancements for both Dishonored games include 4K resolution, improved framerate, draw-distances, and shadow quality. Enhancements for The Evil Within 2, which received mostly-positive reviews at release, include upgraded resolution, higher framerate, and removal of the 30 fps lock.

The update for The Elder Scrolls Online releases today, and adds support for native 4K resolution and HDR, increased view distance, upgraded shadows, and upgraded water reflections. Gamers may be able to enjoy these upgrades in the recently-released Clockwork City DLC, further negating the criticism the MMO received at launch. Furthermore, classics Fallout 3 and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will be joining the Xbox One X enhanced catalog as backward compatible games.

These enhancements are expected to release over the next few months, bringing favorites and classics to the full power of the Xbox One X. For those who prefer the PlayStation 4 Pro, updates and releases may be revealed soon, according to Bethesda. Either way, the library of Bethesda games utilizing the full power of current-gen consoles will continue to grow and benefit gamers with the latest upgrades.

These enhancements are expected to release over the coming months for Xbox One X.
