Almost two years after its release back in 2015, Fallout 4 is set to receive a Game of the Year edition, and it comes out on September 26, 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. As is typically the case with GOTY editions, the special version of the post-apocalyptic RPG will contain all of the latest gameplay updates (including Survival mode), graphical enhancements, the capacity to use mods for free on PC and consoles, as well as all official add-ons that have been created for the title.
With this being the case, in addition to Fallout 4: Game of the Year Edition having the fully updated base game, all six expansion packs put out after the title’s original release date will be included in the package as well. That means Automatron, Wasteland Workshop, Far Harbor, Contraptions Workshop, Vault-Tec Workshop, and the final add-on, Nuka-World, will be available with the purchase of the GOTY edition.
Should Fallout 4 fans be looking for an even more sumptuous version of the Game of the Year compendium, Bethesda plans on celebrating the release of the special package by providing a limited supply of Pip-Boy collector editions that will exclusively be made available at select retailers in North America. The Pip-Boy collector editions are set to include the base game and all of the aforementioned add-ons for a retail value of $100 USD.
For those who have been living in a bomb shelter for the past couple of years that haven’t been privy to information from the outside world, Fallout 4 is an open world role-playing game set in Boston following the ravages of a catastrophic nuclear war. Players take on the role of the Sole Survivor, who emerges from a cryogenic slumber in an underground vault and goes onto the surface to explore the Wasteland nearly 210 years after the destruction.
Without a doubt, should there be any gaming fan out there who has yet to give Fallout 4 a go, the release of its Game of the Year edition in September will be the perfect time to pick up the title, as it will provide every piece of content put out for the release since its launch in 2015 in one handy package. Should that not be enough of a selling point, perhaps the fact that it’s won over 200 “Best Of” awards – including the 2016 DICE Game of the Year award – will spur one into action.
