PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has had a major E3 2017 so far, with the title seeing the big reveal of its status as an Xbox One console exclusive. Now, fans of the current early access PC version the title can look forward to a brand new mode for the Battle Royale-esque game.
As it turns out, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is going to be receiving a zombie mode. The game’s developers revealed the news on the title’s official Twitter, advising that at the moment there is no exact release date, but that the PvP game mode will be coming. The announcement was made alongside a sneak peek video of the zombie mode in action.
Off the back of this, some gamers were worried that the zombie PvP action would be added as a part of the main part of the game, but thankfully this is not the case. Instead, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will be receiving this mode as an extra, while work continues on optimizing the base game for players.

As long as the work on the zombie mode of the game will not impact on the standard game mode, then this could prove to be a very fun addition to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. For starters, PvP zombie action could certainly be a lot of fun, while this extra mode could provide a nice bit of variety for those wanting a break from the main game.
This is not the only change that was announced for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds over the course of E3 2017. The game’s developers also confirmed that the title will be receiving a major update, which will bring the likes of climbing, vaulting, and weather effects to the game. Once again, however, the release of this update is yet to be confirmed.
Given that the game is currently in early access, players will no doubt be expecting improvements and even major updates to come, and this is something that the game’s developers seem to be planning for. As one such example, it turns out that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds may end up with a single player campaign. Hopefully, all of these elements will come together to provide a great overall experience.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is slated to arrive on the Xbox One in late 2017. The title is currently available on PC via Steam Early Access.
